Port Charlotte

Port Charlotte 10 year old is conceived, distilled matured and bottled only on Islay.
Made from 100% Scottish barley, it is distilled drop by drop through tall, narrow-necked stills, resulting in a balanced, intensely smoky taste with a peaty aroma.
Built in 1881, the Bruichladdich Distillery is located on the remote Scottish island of Islay.
Port Charlotte Scottish Barley Heavily Peated is a tribute to the distillery and the craftsmanship passed down by the local distillers in the art of producing smoky whiskies. The barley used to make this whisky is grown in Scotland, and the water comes from a natural spring on the island. The oak casks in which all Port Charlotte expressions are matured were selected by Master Distiller Jim McEwan and are housed in the distillery’s old warehouse, where the first whiskies were matured over a century ago.
APPEARANCE: Clear amber.
AROMA: The smoky notes are balanced by a maritime character, with time perfecting a harmony between the oak wood, the smoky aroma, and the distillate. The smoke is dry, with hints of peat and earth, allowing the oak aromas to emerge in waves along with notes of caramel, chocolate, vanilla cream, ginger, nutmeg, and cloves. Citrus aromas, lemon meringue, and clementines are also present. Take a deep breath and the floral scents of wild thyme and aromatic grasses will transport you to the Atlantic coast.
TASTE: Fine, delicate. Once again, the balance of flavors is perfect, with the smoke subtly accompanying the sweetness drawn from deep within the oak. Notes of coconut, vanilla, and honey combine with flavors of smoked oysters and the scent of sun-warmed salty sand.
FINISH: The finish is sublime, with clear smoky notes, the fine sweetness of malted barley, hints of orange and mango, and sweet pie-like notes that reflect the depth and quality of the oak.
