Rey Campero

Rey Campero, or King of the Countryside, is one of two mezcal brands introduced to the world by a third-generation family and a dedicated team from Mexico.
Rey Campero is produced in Candelaria Yegolé, a small town in the southeast of the Tlacolula Valley, at the foothills of the Sierra Sur mountains in the state of Oaxaca.
The mezcal from Candelaria Yegolé is crafted under the close supervision and hands-on involvement of master distiller Romulo Sanchez Parada.
The maguey agaves, also known as Rhodacantha, are a rare species found in the high-altitude pine and oak forests of the Sierra Sur or on sun-drenched mountain slopes.

Harvesting, roasting in earth ovens, fermentation, and distillation are all done by hand using small-scale, artisanal copper stills—preserving the classic flavors of traditional Mexican spirits.
